Ah yes, Orit. I very nearly changed my allegiance from Aziza when I saw her dance in Brighton last year.
I think Orit is an incredible dancer. She's Israeli and she's taking the world by storm at the moment - quite rightly in my opinion.
Here's she's dancing to an Om Khalsoum number - every professional dancer will include an Om Khalsoum song in a full set and to dance it you need a lot of feeling and sensitivity. And Orit really does have it here. So spare, so controlled, so beautifully poised.
And like with the Petite Jamilla clip, she's not using a lot of clever moves - she's just interpreting the music beautifully with gentle shimmies, graceful arms and lovely undulations. And her traveling steps are simple too - a few choo choo shimmies, turns and simple walks around the stage. And not many of them either - she stays pretty still most of the time.
Mayaan, who runs Brighton Orient tells me she's going to get her back for the next festival. I'll be teaching at the festival too so I get free workshops with her

She is really amazing isn't she!! I seen her at Brighton Orient last year too - I was blown away! - I bought the DVD and i've watched Orit on it so many times I've nearly worn it out!!
She really is so controlled it's beautiful, and so much feeling too!
I didn't make her workshops at Brighton last year but if there is any chance I can take them this year I will be doing them for sure!! xxx _________________ Is anyone else as addicted to this as me?.... |

Her arms are like flowing water. Beautiful! _________________ Life isn't measured by the number of breaths you take, but by the moments which take your breath away. |
